November 16th – Club News
Posted By Brad Walker
What’s happened this week?
The Rotary Club of Wake Forest met Monday, Nov. 16, both in-person and online at The Forks Cafeteria
in Wake Forest. President-elect Mark Vasconcellos opened the meeting; Rev. Dr. Marion Holloway gave
the invocation. All stood together for the pledge.
Good News
Lots of good news from members: Bob McCamy expressed appreciation to Jackie Barn
for the great job she’s doing with distributing pecans for our annual pecan fundraiser and reminded
members that we have additional inventory that can be sold. Praise from Brad Walker, Ken Steigler, and
Mark went to the Membership Development Committee’s new Huddle Heroes initiative. Mark also
noted the positive response to last weekend’s Diversity and Inclusion Zoom Conference, and he was
given birthday wishes by Barb Neudecker. Happy Birthday, Mark! George Aux attended the opening of
the new National Museum of the US Army which opened on Veterans Day in Ft. Belvoir, VA.
Tommy Murray shared the unusual tale of his son, now at East Carolina, fishing from his back deck in
Greenville where the Tar River rose after Hurricane Eta’s drenching rainfall last week. Dee Skinner
celebrated the success of her daughter Mary Celeste who passed the NC bar last week. Congrats, MC!
Rachel Prather and fiancé Zeke are making the NC State Park rounds, most recently visiting Haw River
State Park at Brown’s Summit near Greensboro. Plus, they are only 33 days away from their December
wedding! Finally, two of our sports enthusiasts chimed in for NASCAR (Louis Mullinger) and “The Big
Four” (Kermit Copley).
Announcements
No meeting this coming Monday. We’ll take a break for Thanksgiving Week.
Queen of Hearts
Helen Holt didn’t win the Queen’s pot, now filling up with $335, but her little spade
did win the raffle.
