Club News – May 10th

Posted By Brad Walker

Rotarian Enoch Holloway and Rev Donald Warren started out with a video “Segregated by Design”. This video examines the forgotten history of how our federal, state, and local governments unconstitutionally segregated every major metropolitan area in America through law and policy. In other words, segregation did not happen by accident or personal prejudice. Segregation was forced. Thus, historic housing practices contributed to racial inequalities today. The seventeen-minute video can be viewed at www.segregatedbydesign.com.

Enoch and Rev Warren both talked about the effects of access to homeownership on the wealth gap between black families and white families. While law changes are the beginning of correct this imbalance, it is up to all of us to support change. They are presenting this program to churches and civic groups in the area. Thanks to both Enoch and Rev Warren for this program.
