Club News – June 7th

Elizabeth Gardner, a meteorologist with WRAL TV spoke to the club about the effects of climate warming on Hurricane Season. Hurricanes draw their power from the warmth of the water they pass over. There are many factors that determine how many hurricanes we will have and where they will come in, but the forecast is for a very active season in 2021. Not only will it be an active hurricane season, but we can expect heavier rains. As warmer air holds more water, the summer thundershowers will tend to carry more rain. Sounds like global warming is real and we need to do all we can to keep it from increasing.
Those who want to dig deeper into the statistics behind the weather should go to www.climantecentral.org. Thanks to Elizabeth for this program.
